⭐ Week 7 — Sharing the Light
(Sunday Devotional)
Matthew 5:14–16; Matthew 28:18–20
The story of Christmas does not end with a manger, a star, or even a cross. It continues in us. The same God who brought light into the darkness now entrusts that light to His people. We do not generate the light—we reflect it. We do not save anyone—we point to the One who does. And as we close this devotional journey, we consider one final calling: to carry the light we have received into every corner of our world.
🌟 Reflection
Christmas begins with God entering the world as light.
It continues when that light enters us.
And it advances as that light moves through us into the lives of others.
Jesus looked at ordinary people—fishermen, tax collectors, doubters, and the newly redeemed—and spoke a world-shaping identity over them:
“You are the light of the world.”
(Matthew 5:14)
Not you will become.
Not try to be.
Not only if you’re spiritually mature.
“You are the light” because My light is now in you.
A lamp is not responsible for who receives its glow.
A city does not apologize for being seen.
Light doesn’t measure its impact—it simply shines.
And that is the essence of Christian witness.
We are not responsible for whether people accept the gospel or reject it.
We are not accountable for outcomes—only obedience.
God does the saving.
We do the shining.
Jesus said:
“Let your good deeds shine out for all to see,
so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”
(Matthew 5:16)
Light is seen through:
compassion that steps toward need
forgiveness that frees rather than binds
integrity that refuses compromise
joy that cannot be stolen
generosity that surprises the world
conversations that point gently but confidently toward Jesus
faithfulness in the ordinary places of life—home, work, school, friendships, neighborhoods
When our lives reflect Jesus, people see more clearly.
Not because we are impressive, but because His Light is visible in us.
Then the risen Christ gives His final charge:
“Go and make disciples… and I am with you always.”
(Matthew 28:18–20)
The One who sends us is the One who goes with us.
The One who commands us to shine is the One who supplies the light.
This is our calling as we end this devotional journey and move forward:
to carry the light of Christ into a world that still walks in darkness—
to be living testimonies of the gospel—
to shine with love, truth, courage, humility, and hope.
We do not shine to be noticed.
We shine so He will be.
🙏 Prayer Prompt
Lord Jesus, Light of the World, thank You for filling me with Your grace, Your presence, and Your truth. Shine through me in every part of my life—my home, my relationships, my work, and my community. Give me courage to share what You have done for me and confidence to trust You with the results. Let my life reflect Your heart so others may see You clearly and be drawn to Your saving light. Amen.
🕯️ Response for the Week
Choose one of these invitations to carry forward the light you’ve received during this devotional series:
1. Shine Where You Already Are (Matthew 5:14–16)
Identify one person in your daily life who needs encouragement, prayer, or care. Ask God how you can be His light to them this week through a simple act of compassion.
2. Tell Your Story (Matthew 28:19–20)
Write out a brief testimony of what God has done in your life—how His light has changed you. Pray for an opportunity to share it naturally with someone this week.
3. Reflect His Character (2 Corinthians 3:18)
Choose one Christlike attribute—kindness, patience, honesty, forgiveness, generosity—and practice it intentionally each day. Ask God to let His light shine through your obedience.
